The moment every Washington Commanders fan has been waiting for is officially here. Franchise quarterback Jayden Daniels is finally coming back, and he’s getting some much-needed help.

Wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown are out on Sunday, but thankfully, Deebo Samuel will be playing as a team captain after being out of practice on Wednesday and Thursday. The defense is also getting healthy at the right time, with Daron Payne and Mike Sainristil being cleared to go after missing time this week as well.

The Commanders will need all hands on deck, and it seems like just enough reinforcements will be playing on Sunday to help Daniels in his homecoming, while the Chargers lose a key player.

Commanders’ Injury Observations

McLaurin and Brown being out means it’s another massive opportunity for Luke McCaffrey and Jaylin Lane to continue their development, and produce for the offense, especially with Daniels back while he reps his new knee brace. We also can’t understate how big it is getting tight end John Bates back to help establish the run game and get long drives going on offense.

Payne didn’t practice, but head coach Dan Quinn said he is expected to play with Sainristil and Percy Butler returning to practice as well. The Chargers have a top passing offense, and we need to see drastic changes in the secondary compared to last week.

The Chargers will be without Joe Alt

The Chargers lost Joe Alt to a high ankle sprain last week, and he’s been in a walking boot ever since. The team officially announced that Alt will be out on Sunday, and Justin Herbert will have backup offensive tackles on both sides of the line. The Commanders have no excuse not to get pressure on Herbert, after failing to rush the quarterback on the road last week, especially with Herbert as the top pressured quarterback over the last two weeks.

Mekhi Becton is also questionable for Sunday, but expected to play after suffering a concussion.
