The Washington Commanders have struggled with multiple injuries to key players, including their leaders Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin.

Both have missed the majority of the season, and they’re still dealing with injuries heading into Week 11. We already know Daniels will be reevaluated during the bye week next week, but we’ve been waiting on an update for McLaurin.

We weren’t sure when he would play again, but we finally got a sight of McLaurin on the side field with a trainer at practice, and an update from head coach Dan Quinn.

Terry McLaurin could return soon

We heard that McLaurin would be traveling with the team to Madrid, Spain, which means he must’ve been trending in the right direction with his injury. McLaurin reinjured his quad during the game against the Kansas City Chiefs, which caused him to miss four games the first time. Quinn gave the media an update on McLaurin’s return.

“Yeah, so he’s here and he’ll do some of the movement and begin the on-field portions
of the rehab.” Quinn said. “So, the first couple of weeks, he was not able to do that. And so, now he’s able to begin some of the on-field portions of the rehab. So, that’ll take the buildup time to do that, but we’re glad he is here, taking the next step on the on-field side. So, sometimes these injuries take longer than you want, and they’re not predictable to say it’s going to be this set time. We’re just going to continue to say, okay, next step, next step, next step. And so, the on-field portion is a good sign that, okay, we can now take the next steps.”

Terry McLaurin and Jayden Daniels could still play together

If McLaurin misses four games like he did last time, that means he could come back against the Denver Broncos after the bye week. The team could decide to play Daniels again that same week, which would mean McLaurin and Daniels could possibly play their first game together since Week 2.

The duo of McLaurin and Daniels was one of the best last season, but they haven’t had the chance to do the same this year. Playing Daniels only makes sense if he actually has someone to throw to that will be back next season, and not the same struggling offense of elevated practice-squad players. The team needs something positive to build off of the rest of the season, and seeing Daniels throwing to McLaurin again would work wonders.
