Washington Commanders' free agency moves in 2024
Re-signings
- DB Jeremy Reaves – A core special-teamer, it's good to see Reaves back on the team under the new regime.
- DL Efe Obada – The Commanders add more depth to their pass rush. Obada had 4.0 sacks in 2022, but injuries limited him to just five games in 2023.
- KR/WR Jamison Crowder – A familiar face, Crowder can provide depth at receiver and in the return game.
Additions
- TE Zach Ertz – Washington signed Ertz to a one-year, $5 million deal on March 6. He reunites with Kliff Kingsbury, who coached him in Arizona.
- C Tyler Biadasz – The former Cowboy rejoins Quinn in Washington on a three-year, $30 million deal.
- DE Dorance Armstrong – Another former Cowboy, Armstrong will add some pass rush juice to a defensive end position in dire need of some. Like Biadasz, it's a three-year deal, but Armstrong's maxes out at $45 million.
- RB Austin Ekeler – The Commanders signed the talented back on a very team-friendly deal that could really pay off if he stays healthy. It's a two-year deal worth up to $11.43 million.
- LB Frankie Luvu – Quinn gets the perfect linebacker for his defense and one of the more underrated players in the league. Luvu agreed to terms on a three-year, $36 million max deal.
- K Brandon McManus – The veteran kicker agreed to terms on a one-year, $3.6 million, per NFL Network's Jason McCourty.
- G Nick Allegretti – The former Chief comes into town riding a three-year, $16 million deal.
- DE Clelin Ferrell – General manager Adam Peters is familiar with Ferrell thanks to the latter's stint in San Fran.
- QB Marcus Mariota – The veteran quarterback will come in and compete with Sam Howell, and possibly a rookie QB, for the starting gig. It's a one-year, $6 million deal.
- DE Dante Fowler Jr. – He'll add some nice depth to the Commanders' pass rush.
- S Jeremy Chinn – The former Panther is a much-needed add in the secondary and will provide a lot of versatility. Per Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz, it's a one-year, $5.1 million deal.
- LS Tyler Ott – He signed a three-year deal and reunites with new Commanders special teams coach, Larry Izzo.
- LB Bobby Wagner – Wagner is the prime example of Quinn establishing his culture and making sure the younger players are surrounded by guys who know what they're doing and who are on the same page.
- LB Anthony Pittman – He'll provide depth at outside linebacker and should be a special teams contributor.
- CB Noah Igbinoghene – The former first-rounder is on his third team in as many years, but has a chance to make the team thanks to limited options in the cornerback room.
Departures
- RB Antonio Gibson – The 2020 draft pick is joining the New England Patriots.
- QB Jacoby Brissett – Like Gibson, Brissett is heading to New England to re-join the team that originally drafted him.
- OL Saadhiq Charles – The former fourth-rounder is joining the Tennessee Titans on a one-year deal.
- S Kamren Curl – The former seventh-round draft pick signed on with the Rams, as he continues to defy the odds.
- WR Curtis Samuel – The veteran wideout heads to Buffalo, where he reunites with Joe Brady.
- QB Sam Howell – The former starter was traded to the Seahawks, along with the 102nd pick (fourth round) and the 170th pick (sixth round). The Commanders received picks Nos. 78 (third round) and 152 (fifth round) in return. All picks are in this year's draft.
- CB Kendall Fuller – One of the best corners in the league is headed to South Beach.
