The Washington Commanders have rebuilt the roster and the culture around the team in a short period of time with a new front office and coaching staff and there will always be room to keep improving. You can't add just anybody to the team though.

Making additions to the roster includes many factors such as their skillsets on the field and fitting in with the culture of being a Commander.

That's why Commanders HC Dan Quinn knew Von Miller was the perfect fit for what the team has built in Washington on the field.

Miller fits the Commanders' culture

"We're not for everybody," Quinn told the media. "But for the guys that man, love ball, love competing, this is the type of environment that you could really thrive in."

"It was just fun to talk pass rush with him, honestly," Quinn added. "We talked a lot about the summit that you know he's been part of for a long time, other players and their ability to share and veterans."

Miller has shown recently that he can still produce on the field and that comes with hard work in the offseason and still being obsessed with the sport at this point of his career. You can't just fake it on the field at 36 years old.

Quinn also made a point to mention that general manager Adam Peters gives the coaching staff the ability to scout players and be involved in the discussions of what players best fit the team. The tape spoke for itself when they watched what Miller still had in the tank and he's joining Washington to do the same thing.

Quinn confirms Miller still has it

"You have it or you don't," Quinn told the media on Miller. "And you can see it so it's not hard to evaluate somebody that's got, you know, the ability to to really jump off the spot."

Miller made the most of his opportunities with the Buffalo Bills last season by collecting six sacks and 32 pressures on only 209 pass rushing snaps and Washington will put him in the position to do the same thing.

"You want to see as a pass rusher, first thing can you beat somebody the punch," Quinn added. "He's got different unique talents. He can bend, he's long, but at this point, it's what's the skills. . .I like the stunts. I like that he's versatile, that he can play from his feet. He can play from down. We like to use variety and how we would want to go attack things"

The coaching staff will let Miller pin his ears back and continue to add to his Hall-of-Fame resume with more sacks this season.

Washington has shown in the past two seasons that they only sign, draft, or trade for players who fit what it means to be a Commander and can also accomplish on the field what the coaching staff is looking for. Von Miller checked all the boxes for Quinn and Peters.
