The Washington Commanders are gearing up for a Saturday afternoon NFC East showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles.

It’s not the matchup everyone hoped for, with Jayden Daniels out for the rest of the season, and the Commanders sitting at 4-10. They can, however, play spoiler for an Eagles team still fighting for the NFC East title.

This is the first of two matchups in three weeks, and the home crowd will be on hand for this one. Heading into the game, the Commanders hope to carry over the momentum of last week’s win and take advantage of an Eagles team that has struggled to secure an upset. They’ll need to be at full force to get the upset, and things are trending in a positive direction for Laremy Tunsil, while Bobby Wagner continues to miss practice.

Observations

Wagner missed practice last week as well, and still played 100% of snaps against the New York Giants, so it shouldn’t be an issue if he doesn’t practice at all this week. On the flip side of the ball, left tackle Laremy Tunsil left the game early last week and has been on the radar to watch this week with an oblique injury. He went from not practicing on Tuesday to being a limited participant on the side field today.

Colson Yankoff is now TE3 and a key special teams player after the Zach Ertz injury. However, Yankoff is not trending towards playing on Saturday, with him missing both practices this week. Defensive end Drake Jackson is having his first full practice since he joined the Commanders, and he could finally make his debut against the Eagles.

The Eagles have some big names on their injury report

For the Eagles, it’s been a rough stretch of injuries, including some important players. Jalen Carter, Landon Dickerson, and Lane Johnson have not practiced this week, and the Eagles could be playing without them once again.

All three would be significant losses for the trench battle, which favors the Eagles. The short week may hurt both teams in terms of injuries, but the Eagles could get the shorter end of the stick if they’re without some top leaders.
