The Commanders get a major weapon on offense back against the Broncos, while they wait on others still injured
Terry McLaurin is officially back, while Jayden Daniels needs more time.
The Washington Commanders are coming off a bye week on a six-game losing streak and hosting one of the best teams in the AFC in the Denver Broncos.
There are still six weeks left in the season, and the team needs to see what they have on the roster while chasing wins. That’s hard to do, though, when they have so many injuries and have to stick with more veterans because of it. Luckily, they’re getting back one of the most important players on the team, who’s had a nightmare season, while others need another week.
The offense will finally have wide receiver Terry McLaurin back this week, but they will still be without Jayden Daniels and others.
Terry McLaurin is back against the Broncos
McLaurin was expected to have a major season after getting his contract extension, but it’s been the complete opposite. He was injured in just the third game of the season, which caused him to miss four games. Then, he reinjured his quad again in his first game back, which forced him out for another four games. The wait is finally over, though, and the team announced McLaurin will play Sunday night.
McLaurin has six weeks to remind people what he’s capable of and also show that he can be relied on next season. The team desperately needs to add more playmakers on offense this offseason, but having McLaurin back to his old self to end the season is something everyone needs to see. He won’t have his starting quarterback just yet, however, with Jayden Daniels needing more time in his return.
Jayden Daniels will not be making his return this week
It was expected since Daniels was called a long shot to play this week, but head coach Dan Quinn announced that he will officially be out again, and Marcus Mariota will get the start.
Daniels has been at practice throwing the football around, but he’s still waiting to be cleared for contact. He could possibly return next week against the Minnesota Vikings, and McLaurin will be waiting for him.
The Commanders are still waiting on others to return
McLaurin and Daniels aren’t the only players fighting to come back, and Quinn has already ruled out both Noah Brown and Drake Jackson as well. Brown hasn’t played since Week 2, and Jackson has been eagerly awaiting his Commanders debut since he joined the team.
The defense is also waiting for safety Will Harris to return, and Quinn said they won’t make a decision on him until Saturday. Regardless of the record, the Commanders have a lot that they need to see in these final six games with both veterans and younger players on the team.
