The Washington Commanders’ season has been as unfortunate as possible after a 3-5 record, and injuries have been a key factor.

Key players have been the main storyline with the Commanders’ injuries, including the duo of Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin. Daniels has had two injuries that caused him to miss three games, and McLaurin had a quad injury that forced him to miss four games.

Daniels is set to return to practice this week, and just like that, the McLaurin injury update we didn’t want to hear this week is the main topic of Week 9 vs the Seattle Seahawks. McLaurin and Daniels have only played the first two games of the season together, and now the All-Pro wide receiver will miss another.

Terry McLaurin is out Week 9 vs the Seahawks with the same quad injury

McLaurin injured his quad back in Week 3 against the Las Vegas Raiders and went on to miss the next four games after that. He finally made his return against the Kansas City Chiefs and made his impact felt with two crazy catches, until he re-injured his quad on a full-effort catch, which will force him to be out Week 9, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

It’s been a nightmare season for McLaurin, who got a long-term extension this offseason, and hasn’t been able to stay healthy. The quad injury was already a tricky injury to worry about, and now he suffers a setback with no timetable for a return, according to Quinn.

“Terry re-injured his quad,” Quinn said. “So he’ll be out this Sunday night. We’ll re-evaluate it next week to see where it goes. Bummed for him, and for us. Just tough, but we’ll see where, you know, the next week looks like. . .No expectations on that [his return], nothing long-term on that we’re under consideration for, so it’s still the early days, but we’ll re-evaluate it, see where we go and where it can take us. But yeah, too early to predict. Just like a day and a half later. . .Like we said, this is not something that’s, you know, going to be a thing that’s going to knock him out for a long time, we hope.”

It’s been a case of bad luck, and there’s no telling when McLaurin will be back. If Daniels does play Sunday night, he will once again be returning from injury and playing without his top target in McLaurin. The game against the Seahawks is a make-or-break game for the Commanders. A win keeps hopes alive, and a loss gives them a 1-5 NFC record with almost no chance at a postseason.
