Washington is making many changes on the field this offseason, but it could also be making notable changes off the field as well. The Commanders brought back their Super Bowl Era uniforms this past season, and they could very well make those the new full-time uniforms starting in 2026.
It’s also rumored that the Commanders are set to have another alternate uniform this season, and they may have just leaked a preview of what to expect.

The Commanders are rumored to be one of the many teams debuting new uniforms in 2026, with a potential new alternate on the horizon. It could be a throwback to the classic 1960’s spear uniforms after seeing a spear logo in a new social media post by the team.
Now, it could also be a new spear design as well, but it makes sense to bring another throwback into the mix, which fans have been asking for. We saw pictures from the team’s media day leaked with Jayden Daniels holding a spear before the season, and we soon found out why. The team has incorporated a spear as a theme all season long, and teased it and gameday graphics as well.
The team has also talked about what it means to be a Commander, and leaned heavily into the Greco-Roman theme with the spear. We don’t know if it’ll be a new alternative logo or just part of the theme, but it’s the worst-kept secret that they are getting new uniforms and a new helmet for 2026.

It’s been reported for a while now that the Commanders are very likely keeping their Super Bowl Era jerseys as the main jersey starting in 2026, including a rollout of the burgundy theme as well. But, in addition to that change, it’s been rumored that Washington will also debut a new alternative uniform and helmet, with the 1960’s spear theme leading the way as the favorite.
These are all changes fans have been dying to see following negative feedback on the gradient-themed jerseys after the rebrand. The team is going back to the RFK Stadium site soon, and also going back to its roots with a nostalgic callback to its classic uniforms moving forward.
