Losing game vs Cowboys is least of Commanders’ worries after Jayden Daniels leaves game with another injury
The Commanders season is going downhill, and it just got worse.
Losing a game in the NFC East is always a big hit to the Washington Commanders’ season, but this embarrassing loss to the Cowboys is the least of its concerns.
The team has many flaws to be worried about after this loss, including a terrible defense and injuries adding up, but nothing compares to losing your franchise quarterback. Jayden Daniels got hurt for the second time this season, and now fans are looking for answers on what they have to look forward to this season, and it all falls on his health.
Losing the game to the Cowboys hurts, but now we await to see how severe the injury is to Daniels with a gauntlet of a schedule remaining for the rest of the season. Daniels missing several more games would be a nail in the coffin for the vibes of the season.
Jayden Daniels left the game early with another injury
The offense started to click, and Daniels cut the game to a one-score deficit before the defense crumbled once again to allow another touchdown right before halftime, making it a 27-15 lead for the Cowboys. The Commanders got the ball back after halftime with absolutely no momentum anymore, and the rest of the life left in the game was sucked out of the air when Daniels went down holding his right leg.
This was luckily the opposite leg that he injured against the Green Bay Packers, which forced him to miss two games. Daniels had the weight of the team on his shoulders, and he was playing with all backup wide receivers, with Terry McLaurin, Deebo Samuel, and Noah Brown all out with injuries, and a banged-up Zach Ertz. Marcus Mariota had to come in, and the offense still looked the same. Now we wait to see how severe the hamstring injury is. Head coach Dan Quinn said after the game that Daniels will be getting an MRI on Monday.
Team’s worries are starting to pile up
It does feel like the season is getting away from the Commanders, and the vibes haven’t felt the same dating back to this offseason. Injuries and missing players have been a storyline dating back to training camp, and it’s showing through seven games. The Commanders have one of the hardest remaining schedules left, and there are so many concerns with the health and construction of the roster.
Daniels’ health is the top priority, but his window is being wasted with a terrible defense that doesn’t give the team a chance to win games, and McLaurin hasn’t played with Daniels since Week 2. There were high expectations, but there is a lot of work that needs to be done this season. A lot of changes need to be made to see what this team really has outside of the franchise quarterback.
