The Washington Commanders are getting ready for Sunday Night Football against the Denver Broncos, but the team is also on the road scouting prospects on Saturday.

The team is 3-8, and fans are looking at the offseason already with a lot of intriguing options in free agency and six draft picks to work with. 2026 NFL mock drafts are flying off the press already, with the college football season almost over, and the Commanders will very likely finish with a top-10 pick.

The Commanders have been on the road all season, scouting the best talent for the 2026 NFL Draft. This weekend, they sent multiple scouts to the Ohio State vs Michigan rivalry game with a list of potential prospects to watch.

Ohio State prospects to watch

Of course, Jeremiah Smith is the shiny toy everyone wants, but unfortunately, he’s not draft eligible until next season. But they do have another top WR prospect in Carnell Tate, who has had a great final season. Going into the game, Tate has 39 catches for 711 yards and seven touchdowns, and he just scored again as I typed this. He’s a legit deep threat at 6-3, 195 pounds, and averages over 18 yards per catch.

The Buckeyes are also loaded on defense with two players who could potentially go in the top-5 with LB Arvell Reese and S Caleb Downs. Reese is a rare athlete who can play on and off the ball and do everything exceptionally well. Whether it’s blitzing as an edge rusher, stopping the run in the backfield, or dropping into coverage, Reese is your do-it-all player who is worth a high draft pick.

Downs has been one of those rare generational players since his freshman season at Alabama, and his stock has remained high as arguably the best blue-chip prospect in the draft that can slide due to positional value. Make no mistake, though, Downs is a player who improves the entire defense and changes a franchise. They have another LB in Sonny Styles that could be a top-20 pick if the Commanders decide to trade back for more picks.

Michigan prospects to watch

The Wolverines have a lot of talent worth watching as well, and one of the more underrated defensive ends in the draft. Derrick Moore shines in film last season while watching his teammate Josiah Stewart, and he’s been just as dominate this season. At 6-3,260 pounds, Moore has the burst and bend off the edge which has helped him get 11 sacks and a 19.4% pass rush win rate.

He isn’t the only player on defense, as safety Rod Moore is a vertan prospect who has battled injuries this season, but a true ball hawk in the secondary that the Commanders need. Moore didn’t play against Ohio State, but still a talent worth keeping on your draft board. Quan Martin could be done as the starter after the season, and the defense needs an overhaul anyways.
