The Washington Commanders are heading out west for Friday’s practice as they continue to prepare for the Los Angeles Chargers.

The injury list has continued to grow, even with quarterback Jayden Daniels coming back from his knee injury, and there are multiple players to watch as kickoff gets closer. It’ll take a full team effort to beat the Chargers on another road trip, where the Commanders have struggled the most so far this season, with both losses coming away from home.

Here’s a look at Thursday’s injury report for the Commanders, and Daniels will be short-handed on Sunday with two top wide receivers, Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown, out for another week.

Commanders’ Injury Observations

Losing McLaurin for another week is big, especially with Daniels coming back, and Deebo Samuel and Noah Brown being injured doesn’t help any. Brown is out as well, but Samuel is traveling with the team, which means he is leaning towards playing. Tight end John Bates looks like he’s a full go for Sunday and will be needed to help with blocking and keeping Daniels clean.

The defense has its own concerns as well, with Mike Sainristil, Daron Payne, and Percy Butler all dealing with injuries, but all three also traveled with the team, so things could be trending in a positive direction.

The New York Giants beat the Chargers after Malik Nabers went down for the season, so there are no excuses when it comes to injuries. Kliff Kingsbury needs to run the ball on offense, and players like Luke McCaffrey and Jaylin Lane need to step up with or without Samuel playing. This could also be a huge game for Zach Ertz, who is already Daniels’ favorite target.
