Commanders Injury Report: Injuries continue to mount for the offense, including two star players with a lot of unknowns
Injuries continue to mount up for the Commanders.
The biggest storylines for the Washington Commanders continue to be the injuries to key players before they head to the Atlanta Falcons.
It’s only Week 4 in the league, and a lot of teams are dealing with injuries, but the Commanders’ top two players are currently dealing on the injury report, and their statuses are unknown for Sunday. Jayden Daniels continues to recover from his knee strain and said that he “feels good” on Wednesday, but also knows it’s not his decision.
Marcus Mariota may get the start again, but this time without his top option in Terry McLaurin, who is dealing with a quad injury with a lot of questions. These are just two of many new names added to the injury report with significant impacts on the team.
Commanders’ Thursday injury report
| Player | Injury | W/T/F | Designation |
| TE-John Bates | Calf/Groin | DNP/DNP | |
| WR-Noah Brown | Groin/Knee | DNP/DNP | |
| S-Percy Butler | Hip | DNP/DNP | |
| RB-Jacory Croskey-Merritt | Knee | DNP/DNP | |
| WR-Terry McLaurin | Quad | DNP/DNP | |
| QB-Jayden Daniels | Knee | Limited/Limited | |
| CB-Trey Amos | Calf | Limited/Full | |
| TE-Colson Yankoff | Ankle | Full/Full | |
Observations
- I’m not expecting to see either Daniels or McLaurin on Sunday, but of course, we won’t know until Friday, or even up to kickoff. John Bates and Noah Brown missed last week, and they haven’t practiced this week either, which means they could be out again. We saw Ben Sinnott step in for Bates, and he played well, and the same could be said for Luke McCaffrey taking Brown’s spot.
- Ja’Corey Brooks could be called up from the practice squad if McLaurin and Brown miss time after Chris Moore was already signed to the active roster. Croskey-Merritt was in pads Thursday, stretching, so he could get fewer carries if he plays, and Kliff Kingsbury could lean on Chris Rodriguez Jr and Jeremy McNichols more on Sunday.
Falcons’ injury report
| Player | Injury | W/T/F | Designation |
| RB-Nate Carter | Hamstring | DNP/DNP | — |
| WR-KhaDarel Hodge | Groin | DNP/DNP | |
| CB-A.J Terrell | Hamsting | DNP/DNP | |
| LB-Josh Woods | NIR (personal) | -/DNP | |
| WR-Jamal Agnew | Groin | Limited’Limited | |
| LB-James Pearce | Groin | Limited/Limited | |
| S-DeMarcco Hellams | Hamstring | Limited/Full | |
| TE-Kyle Pitts | Toe | Limited/Full | |
| WR-Casey Washington | Concussion | Limited/Full | |
Observations
- Missing A.J. Terrell is obviously a big hit, but the Falcons have a lot of young thriving talent. Dee Alford has been a lockdown corner, and rookies Xavier Watts and Billy Bowman Jr. have been great additions. The Falcons have the best passing defense in the league and allow the fewest yards per game. James Pearce has been quick off the edge as well, and a groin injury could hold him out this week.
