Dan Quinn added more fuel to the fire on the Eagles and Commanders rivalry after controversial decision that caused brawl

The Washington Commanders had the chance to pull the upset at home against the Philadelphia Eagles, but their efforts were cut short after Marcus Mariota left the game with an injury at the start of the second half.

They went into halftime with a lead, but having to play the Eagles with your third-string quarterback isn’t ideal, and everything went downhill quickly. The lead went away, and the Eagles, to no surprise, started scoring and had a big lead of their own in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles’ final touchdown led to a controversial decision to go for the two-point conversion, which started a brawl with many ejections. Head coach Dan Quinn spoke about how he felt about it, and why he’s circling the rematch in two weeks.

Eagles’ two-point conversion leads to brawl with the Commanders

The Commanders felt the game slipping away, and a late touchdown by the Eagles put the nail in the coffin with just four minutes left. Scoring is one thing, but going for two with a 17-point lead is disrespectful, and the players knew that. Of course, a major fight broke out after the Eagles got the two-point conversion.

The brawl led to three players getting ejected, and more punishments could come in the next few days. Eagles’ offensive lineman Tyler Steen was ejected, while the Commanders lost Javon Kinlaw and Quan Martin. This was the second brawl of the season after Daron Payne was ejected and later suspended in the Detroit Lions game weeks ago.

Dan Quinn can’t wait for the rematch in two weeks

Quinn was asked about the decision that led to the fight, and he kept it brutally honest, which he doesn’t do often.

“That’s their choice, man,” Quinn said. “I want to look at the tape and see what happened before. You know, our ejections, our poise, or any of those things. Like our guys are absolutely going to stick up for themselves and for their teammates. . .I can only answer for my side, what I would do, but hey man, like, if that’s how they want to get down, like, all good. We play them again in two weeks.”

The players felt the same way, including Bobby Wagner

Quinn wasn’t the only one who felt strongly about it, as veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner had the same message.

“I don’t care, like, was it disrespectful? Maybe,” Wagner said. “We still gotta stop it. That’s how I look at it. We gotta stop them, and we’ll see them in a couple weeks.”

They’re right, though, the Commanders will see the Eagles once again, and they need to show something in these final two games. Veterans need to play with some heart, and the younger guys need to play hungry.
