It doesn’t get any bigger for the Washington Commanders than traveling on a short week to take on the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football. The whole world will be watching quarterback Jayden Daniels and company play at one of the hardest road stadiums against a team that the media loves.

The Packers were already highly thought of, but those expectations and admirations are through the roof after trading for Micah Parsons. The NFC is stacked, and the Packers are now one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl. This sets up the perfect opportunity for the Commanders to make a statement and become a team nobody wants to play.

Make the most of an opportunity

The Packers embarrassed the Detroit Lions in Week 1 and became even more of a media darling over the last few days. They are the youngest team in the league, and have all the pieces to go far after trading for Parsons. Their Super Bowl odds shifted drastically after their statement win on Sunday. This is the team to love right now, no pun intended.

Everyone is picking the Packers to beat the Commanders on Thursday night, making this a clear opportunity to become the team nobody wants to play. Head coach Dan Quinn doesn’t think the team is there yet as they build their identity, but this is a giant step towards becoming a threat to the league.

“Yeah, we’re not there yet,” Quinn said. “But I want that to grow as we play more, and that’s why I think in the early part of the season that identity is formed. Not by what it’s called but how you play it. And I’m watching the how a lot because I want to see that toughness. I want to see the finishing of plays, and I know there’s going to be mistakes, and how quickly we can get back to getting it right. I want to see that play style, the toughness, the physicality, the finishing. That’s what I want to see, but it doesn’t just happen. It’s got to be formed, and so that’s what I’m looking for again.”

The best way to form the identity of the team that nobody will want to play is by traveling to Lambeau Field and making a statement against the team that the media is hyping up to win it all. The Commanders were counted out many times last year, and they formed their identity as a top team and made it to the NFC Championship game. That was last season, though; they have to do it again against the Packers.
