It hasn’t been the season anyone expected for the Washington Commanders, but they need a win anywhere they can get one on the team.

Injuries have been a major factor in their losing record, but it’s also been an opportunity for the Commanders to try out new players and see what they bring to the team. One of those players was wide receiver Treylon Burks, who needed a new home as a former first-round pick who was let go by the Tennessee Titans.

Well, he made the best play of the entire season for the Commanders against the Denver Broncos, and showed why fans should be excited for his potential after a highlight reel touchdown.

Treylon Burks makes a highlight reel touchdown catch for the Commanders

The Commanders have been looking for a bright spot to be excited about for the future, and they may have found something in Burks. He was a former first-round pick for the Tennessee Titans who needed a change of scenery, and the Commanders decided to give him a shot in the middle of the season with all their injuries. We’ve been waiting to see what Burks can do, and he showed why he was taken 18th overall in the draft with a highlight reel one-handed catch.

The highlight reel catch by Burks in the 13 jersey caught the attention of someone who knows a thing or two about one-handed catches in primetime. Former New York Giants great Odell Beckham Jr. had to give a shoutout to Burks for putting the 13 to good use in the bright lights.

Treylon Burks could be a future piece for the Commanders

Burks had a lot of intrigue around him when he got to the Commanders because of the lack of playmakers with Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown out for the majority of the season. They also need young pieces to build around with not many draft picks once again this offseason, and Burks is a high-ceiling player at just 25 years old. He’s always had the talent, but couldn’t stay off the injury report for the Titans, and he’s hoping to change that in Washington.

If he can stay healthy, Burks can be a solid player to have on offense next season. The Commanders can still add another wide receiver in the draft or free agency to give quarterback Jayden Daniels all the weapons possible. General manager Adam Peters has a tough offseason ahead, and a lot of changes are coming.

McLaurin will obviously be back next season, but Peters needs to make a decision on Deebo Samuel and add more weapons in the wide receiver room. Getting a win with Burks becoming a hit on the roster would go a long way, and he made a great impression with this catch.
