Everyone is watching for the Washington Commanders to bounce back in their second preseason game after a shockingly poor showing in Week 1 of the preseason. The Commanders need to inject optimism and energy into the fan base with a much-improved showing on Monday night.

The Commanders are hosting the Cincinnati Bengals for the lone Monday Night preseason game on the NFL slate, so eyes will be tuned in for a rematch of Jayden Daniels’ breakout game in his rookie season.

How to watch the game

Kickoff is scheduled for 8 pm ET on Monday night, and the game will be much more available than the first game for the Commanders. The first preseason game for the Commanders wasn’t the easiest to stream, but luckily, this game is on primetime. Here’s how you can watch:

  • ESPN
  • NFL +

If you don’t have ESPN to stream, NFL+ shows every preseason game and has a lot of extra perks like replays and All-22 film for the entire season.

Why it’s worth watching

Preseason games aren’t worth watching for the scores and the records, but the Commanders need to play their starters for at least one whole drive in this game. It’s already been announced by the Bengals that they will look to start the season fast and continue to play their starters for longer than usual, so the Commanders can get a real look at the team. There are a lot of new pieces on the team, and still questions at certain positions.

The Commanders won’t have a joint practice against the Baltimore Ravens anymore, so they need to get the starters real in-game reps to prepare for the season. The team doesn’t want to play starters in the final preseason game, so this is the last chance to see what needs to be fixed.

There are a lot of roster bubble players fighting for their jobs as well, and they need every opportunity to impress with roster cuts coming at the end of the month. Preseason games aren’t for everyone, but this might look like a regular-season rematch for the first drive or two.

We will get more updates as the week goes on about who won’t be able to play with injuries, and who the team wants to see more of with Week 1 right around the corner. Hopefully, we get to see Jayden Daniels and Deebo Samuel take the field for the first time together.
