Daniels finally spoke out publicly about the Commanders’ difficult decision, and how he feels about the changes made.

It’s no secret that Daniels and Kingsbury had a close connection after spending just two years together. Even during his rookie season, Daniels and Kingsbury had enough trust to give each other feedback and even call their own plays on the fly.
There were reports that the locker room was initially shocked about the decision, and not everyone agreed with it. We all wondered how Daniels felt as the franchise quarterback, and he finally spoke on it publicly for the first time with the NFL on NBC at the Super Bowl radio row.
“Man, it’s tough,” Daniels said. “Obviously, I trust what the organization is doing, and it was just tough. I have a relationship with him, and I wish him nothing but the best. But I’m also excite to get to work with Blough and what he could do. I’ve been with Blough for both my years in the NFL, so I’m most definitely excited about that.”

The Commanders’ promotion of David Blough as the new offensive coordinator was just as bold of a move since he’s never called plays or run his own offense before. People around the NFL were buzzing about the decision and it’s a move that has aged positively.
Another positive to the move is that Daniels will have his quarterback coach as his new offensive coordinator. Blough has a relationship with Daniels as well and knows his strengths and weaknesses. There will be a learning curve with Blough implementing a new offensive scheme that will be drastically different than Kingsbury’s, especially with Daniels going under center the most in his career.
