Kliff Kingsbury could get revenge on Commanders after being linked to landing with NFC East rival
Commanders’ former offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury could be headed to the New York Giants and face Washington twice a season.
The Washington Commanders ended the season with changes that needed to be made, and they wasted no time moving on from both coordinators.
At the time, it seemed like a shock to part ways with offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury after all the success he had with quarterback Jayden Daniels in 2024, but that’s what the Commanders decided to do. Then, they promoted the young, offensive-minded David Blough to take over, which seems like a massive risk, with a potential high payoff.
We knew that Kingsbury would land on his feet and garner interest from around the league, and it could actually be one of the Commanders’ NFC East rivals.
Kliff Kingsbury is linked to the New York Giants’ offensive coordinator position
Dominoes are continuing to fall around the NFL with teams looking to fill their offensive and defensive coordinator positions, and Kingsbury has yet to find his new home. The Giants are one of those teams that have yet to find a new offensive coordinator, and Kingsbury is being linked as one of the top candidates, according to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.
The Giants made one of the best hires of the offseason after bringing in John Harbaugh as the new head coach, and he had to build his staff. Harbaugh’s former offensive coordinator, Todd Monken, was selected for the Cleveland Browns’ head coaching job, so he had to pivot elsewhere.
Kingsbury is an interesting name for the Giants with Jaxson Dart as their franchise quarterback and a lot of other young talent to build around. This would also give Kingsbury a chance to prove to the Commanders that they made the wrong move.
Kliff Kingsbury would get to face the Commanders twice a year
Kingsbury landing with the Giants would also set up a headline against the Commanders twice a year. There seemed to be no hard feelings on his way out, but you could tell Kingsbury was frustrated throughout the season with how many things were handled, which hindered the offense’s success.
There were also reports of a disconnect between Kingsbury and Adam Peters, and understandably so. It sounds like both sides wanted a fresh start to move on, and the Giants could be that perfect landing spot for him to bounce back with Harbaugh as his head coach.
