Washington Commanders are heading into a new era in 2024 and behind and one of the best coaches in the NFL believes they are on the right track.

During his Super Bowl media availability, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan couldn’t be happier for the new hires with the Commanders.

“Having AP and DQ is as good as it gets,” said Shanahan. “Dan [Quinn] taught me so much in Atlanta, I’m so grateful for what he’s done for my career.”

The new Commanders' head coach Dan Quinn was the head coach with the Atlanta Falcons when Shanahan was the offensive coordinator from 2015-2016. After two years with the Falcons, Shanahan became the head coach of the 49ers.

“I’m so pumped for Dan, I’m so pumped for Washington.

The way he carried himself and the way he talked to the team, it’s as good as I’ve been around.”

It is worth noting that the 49ers’ head coach was the offensive coordinator in Washington from 2010-2013.

Shanahan is plenty familiar with Adam Peters as well, the new general manager of the Commanders. Peters was with the 49ers from 2017-2023, or as long as Shanahan has been there.

Only time will tell us if the Washington hires are going to work out, but one of the best in the business gives the moves a thumbs up.
