The saga continues for All-Pro WR Terry McLaurin and the Washington Commanders, and the NFL never fails to add excitement at the best time possible. Last night, McLaurin made his boldest move yet by requesting a trade from the Commanders, and he received some valuable backup from the rest of the league today.
McLaurin joined the list of Commanders who have been named to the NFL’s top 100 list, and landed just outside the top 50.
McLaurin gained respect from the league last season
The timing couldn’t have been better for McLaurin as the NFL announced that he was ranked the 52nd best player in the league by his peers.
The major jump from 97 in the previous year to 52 this season comes after McLaurin logged his best statistical season of his career. It only took one season with a real quarterback in Jayden Daniels to break the single-season franchise record for touchdowns and countless highlight reel moments that helped propel the Commanders to the NFC Championship game.
McLaurin knows what his value is, but more players around the league saw what he was capable of last season.
“He deserves it all,” Chris Olave said of McLaurin. “He’s one of the top receivers in the league right now.”
Commanders fans have known how special McLaurin is, but it’s refreshing to see him finally get his flowers from the league as a whole. McLaurin should be happy about the timing as well, with his ongoing contract dispute with the team.
Madden 26 recently released their rating for the WRs as well, and McLaurin comes in as the sixth-best WR in the game with a 94 overall and is rated ahead of Mike Evans and AJ Brown. Now, of course, the NFL is a business, and teams don’t pay players based on Madden ratings and top-100 rankings like they do All-Pro honors and Pro Bowls, but McLaurin needs all the help he can get.
The Commanders hold all of the leverage right now, with McLaurin still having a year left on his contract, and he believes his value and worth are much higher than what the team has reflected in their conversations.
Adam Peters may not care about the latest ranking in the NFL top 100, but McLaurin wants to be paid as a top WR in the league, and the players on the field agree that he’s one of the best in the business right now.

‘Get out, we can’t be doing that’ – Jayden Daniels lays down the law in latest Commanders’ practice and it reinforces their Super Bowl standard
Last season was all about becoming the best quarterback he can be for the Washington Commanders, but this season, Jayden Daniels is stepping up as more of a local leader, and that starts in practice. Players and coaches have already noticed a major change in the leadership of Daniels, who is usually a quiet player, […]
