The Philadelphia Eagles are positioning themselves for a Super Bowl run after the team’s latest move.
On Wednesday, the Eagles sent a message to the rest of the NFL by going all-in, and trading for the Chicago Bears’ prolific pass rusher Robert Quinn. The Eagles sent a fourth-round pick to the Bears in exchange for the three-time Pro Bowler.
Quinn has ties to the Eagles’ coaching staff, which will help make his transition smooth. In fact, Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon was a scout with the St. Louis Rams, who wound up selecting Quinn with the 14th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
Familiarity will be a bonus for Quinn, who has just one sack on the season. His dip in production could be attributed to a new system in Chicago.
In 2021, Quinn gave opposing quarterbacks nightmares. He finished second in the NFL with 18.5 sacks, adding 17 tackles for loss and 22 quarterback hits to his Pro Bowl campaign.
Playing in his 12th year in the NFL, Quinn has five double-digit sack seasons to his name. The 32-year-old pass rusher is a perfect fit for an Eagles defensive front that has accumulated 17 sacks through six games.
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is pushing his chips to the center of the table with this trade. Championship windows don’t come open very often, but Roseman is making sure the Eagles have every piece necessary in order to bring home some hardware come February.
