The Philadelphia Eagles entered NFL free agency in the market for a third receiver and found one at a discounted rate.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Birds and former New England Patriots wide receiver DeVante Parker have reached an agreement on a one-year, $4.69 million fully guaranteed deal.
The kicker?
The Eagles only need to pay $1.2 million of that deal while the Patriots take care of the rest.
"DeVante is thrilled and grateful to become a Philadelphia Eagle and to help this elite organization win a championship,” Parker’s agent Jimmy Gould told Schefter.
Parker, 31, was initially a first-round draft pick of the Miami Dolphins in the 2015 NFL Draft. He spent seven seasons in Miami before he was traded to the Patriots ahead of the 2022 season.
He logged 31 catches for 539 yards and three touchdowns in his first season as a Patriot. His numbers dipped in 2023 as he reached just 394 yards on 33 catches and no touchdowns.
However, Parker should see his numbers rise again in an Eagles' offense that stars quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Parker's signing likely means the Eagles have no plans to bring back free agent wideout Quez Watkins, who has failed to live up to expectations over the last two seasons.
As the Eagles' No. 3 receiver, Watkins caught just 15 receptions for 142 yards and a single touchdown last fall.
Philly has almost checked off every free agency so far, though many are awaiting a big safety signing.
