The Philadelphia Eagles can't ignore the truth any longer after completely blowing their 10-1 start to the 2023 regular season followed by an unfathomable 32-9 playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Eagles' Jalen Hurts finished the night completing 25 of his 35 pass attempts for 250 yards and one lone touchdown pass to tight end Dallas Goedert.
And all that came out of an abysmal end to the season was the simple fact that Shane Steichen was the brains behind the 2022 Eagles offense and Brian Johnson couldn't fill his shoes with his many failed screen pass plays.
How do you fumble the bag on an MVP-caliber quarterback that's surrounded by All-Pro talent?
Head coach Nick Sirianni also couldn't fill Steichen's void. He thought he had fixed his team by handing over Sean Desai's defensive play-calling duties to Matt Patricia.
Instead, Sirianni only made things worse as the Eagles went on to lose now six of their final seven contests — many thanks to Patricia's pencil-neck defense.
Where do the Eagles go from here?
Well, according to owner Jeffrey Lurie's face, it doesn't look good for the current Eagles staff.
The Eagles are officially eliminated from the playoffs and there's no doubt that Sirianni is on the hot seat following possibly the worst late-season collapse in NFL history.
Whatever happens next, it's going to be a long offseason for the Birds.
