The Eagles have obliterated its fair share of records en route to the league’s best record in 2022. But there is one historic mark that is in jeopardy as the regular season winds down.
The 1984 Chicago Bears set the NFL record with 72 sacks in a single season. It’s a record that has stood for nearly four decades.
However, the Eagles currently sit at 60 sacks on the year. Philadelphia’s tenacious pass rush is surely licking its chops with matchups against the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants to close out the season.
It’s truly been a team effort to get to this point. The Birds have three players with double-digit sack numbers. Haason Reddick (14) leads the group, followed by Josh Sweat (11) and Javon Hargrave (10). Brandon Graham is knocking on the door with nine sacks on the year.
Though Week 18’s contest against the Giants could be meaningless as it pertains to playoff implications, there is no doubt that this vicious pass rush knows that history is within an arm’s reach.
