The Philadelphia Eagles are about to do something they haven't done in over ten years since 2010 to be exact.

The NFL changed their helmet rule to what is known as the "one helmet rule," in 2013, but the Eagles haven't worn an alternate since 2010.

On Sunday, they will be wearing a new helmet, and no, it isn't what a lot of people remember. This one is a bit different.

Everyone remembers the iconic 'Kelly Green' uniforms. While those won't be unveiled this season, owner Jeffrey Lurie made a promise they would be back in 2023.

“I’m here to announce that beginning in the 2023 season, we’re going to have the kelly green, classic Eagles jersey, and matching helmet and do it the right way,” Lurie said at the NFL owners meetings.

“It’s what our fans have wanted, it’s what we’ve wanted and we’re going to be able to introduce that for that season.”

While that is next year, this year the Eagles have a treat in store.

“What we’re going to do for this season is to have a black helmet because we have a black jersey,” Lurie said.

“And our players love wearing black and they love all black.”

The black-on-black may not be what the fans wanted this year, but they have been promised to get both. This weekend, the Eagles are going to wear their all-black uniforms with the new black helmets.

They haven't worn an alternate helmet since 2010.
