There are several ways that the Philadelphia Eagles could go at No. 22 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft but the logical guess is that they're targeting a secondary prospect.
And exactly who that might be may have gotten a lot clearer following Cooper DeJean's private workout on Monday.
A report surfaced last week that just some in the Eagles organization have raved over the Iowa star defensive back. But if they weren't all on the same page last week, they should be now.
After not testing at the NFL Combine due to a fractured fibula, DeJean posted an outstanding 4.42 40-yard dash, 10-yard split of 1.55 seconds, and a 38.5-inch vertical jump during his private workout, according to The Athletic's Dan Brugler.
Brugler also reports that the 6-foot-1 defensive back weight in at 202 pounds and noted how impressive his numbers were since he was medically cleared less than two weeks ago.
DeJean's versatility is what makes him an intriguing first-round draft prospect in the first place since he's played everywhere from outside cornerback to slot corner and safety during his time with the Hawkeyes.
He really caught the nation's attention in his final two years at Iowa, logging 120 total tackles, 20 passed defended and seven interceptions, including three returned for a touchdown. DeJean was also a standout punt returner for the Hawkeyes, returning 31 punts for 406 yards and one touchdown.
The Eagles are a team that desperately needs secondary help and a do-it-all guy like DeJean could be the kind of difference-maker they're looking for.
According to multiple reports, Philly is set to host DeJean for a top-30 visit sometime this month.
