The Philadelphia Eagles are interested in bringing back a familiar face.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, former Arizona Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz cleared waivers on Friday, which sparked interest in Philadelphia re-signing him.
The Eagles initially traded Ertz to the Cardinals in 2021. After three bust seasons with Arizona, Ertz requested to be released to join a contender.
The Birds could use a boost to their tight end room with injuries looming as they make their way to a post-season.
Starting tight end Dallas Goedert (forearm) returned to practice on Friday for the first time in 3 weeks, though he was limited. Backup tight end Grant Calcaterra was also limited with an ankle injury.
Unlike Lane Johnson, Goedert didn't openly recruit Ertz to Philly, but he did share his thoughts on a potential reunion.
"You just don't see that very often," Goedert told reporters. "I spent a lot of time with him. You know, it's interesting. We'll see what happens with him, but I hope the best for him."
In three seasons with the Cardinals, Ertz reeled in 130 passes for 1,163 yards and eight touchdowns through 28 games.
