Jalen Carter is the real.

The Philadelphia Eagles rookie defensive tackle showed exactly why he was a first-round pick in his Week 1 NFL debut against the New England Patriots.

Carter, who played 40 snaps in the Eagles' 25-20 win, finished the day with eight pressures, seven QB hurries and a sack.

According to Pro Football Focus, Carter had the most quarterback hurries among all players in Week 1 and tied with Tennessee Titans' Arden Key for the lead in total pressures among all players in Week 1.

During Monday's press conference, Eagles writer Martin Frank pointed out to head coach Nick Sirianni that Carter had the most pressures by any rookie defensive tackle in a game over the last five seasons.

" We were able to get some pressure on the quarterback," Sirianni said. "They did a good job of getting the ball out. Jalen, when we were able to get pressure, even when they got the ball out and there was pressure, I just kept seeing Jalen in those scenarios of where he was. Cool stat. I always like those types of stats, the most pressures in the last five years. That’s a cool stat and one that I’ll remember there."

Despite being impressed by Carter's debut and Week 1 stat, he knows that it's just the beginning for that rookie and that it's important for Carter not to get too comfortable.

"But I thought he did a really nice job," Sirianni added. "It was his first game, and we’ve got a lot more. So we were pleased with where he was in the off-season, we were pleased where he was throughout training camp, and we’re pleased with how he performed in that first game.

"But it’s a long season. He has to keep doing it over and over and over again."

Carter will be tested again with a quick turnaround as the Eagles prepare to face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2 on Thursday night.
