Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson is cementing his status as one of the toughest players in the NFL.

Johnson has not played since Week 16 due to a torn muscle in his groin that he suffered in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Many speculated that Johnson’s 2022 campaign would effectively end after such an injury, but there isn’t much that could keep him from missing out on the Birds’ postseason run.

Philly Tough

Johnson was spotted at Eagles practice on Friday, appearing to get some work in during the session.

Following practice, Johnson joined The Pat McAfee Show to discuss his injury status for next week’s NFC’s Divisional Round.

“I felt good today, just movement and stuff. Next week I’ll do good on good. I’ll find out next week, but I’m confident I’ll be able to play.”

As for how this type of injury could impact Johnson in the long run, the two-time All-Pro says the recovery process shouldn’t be too overbearing.

“(Nick) Bosa had this last year and got it fixed. I think it’s like a two month recovery after the surgery. So it won’t be too bad.”

McAfee then pressured Johnson, asking if he is suiting up next week. Johnson’s response was short and simple.

“I’m playing. I’m gonna wrap this thing up and see what happens.”

Who knows whether or not Johnson would’ve been able to play this week if the Eagles hadn’t secure that coveted Wild Card Round bye. Thankfully, Philadelphia took care of business in Week 18, allowing some of the team’s more banged-up players to get some much-needed rest and recovery.

Taking everything into account, Johnson seems to be in good spirits, ready to help lead this team on a Super Bowl run. They’ll need him at his best in order to assert themselves in the ground game, just as they have done all season long.
