Philadelphia Eagles rookie defensive tackle Jalen Carter and his alleged girlfriend were questioned by the police for stealing from a Target earlier in the week.

According to EJ Smith of the Philadelphia Inquirer, "The woman with Carter was said to have put items into her shopping bags without scanning them before Carter grabbed the bags to leave the store."

Smith also noted that Carter nor the woman were arrested and a report was never filed.

When questioned by Eagles media about what happened at Target, Carter dismissed the incident.

“It was probably just a misunderstanding,” Carter said. “I don’t really know too much about it.”

Many NFL teams were hesitant to draft Carter this past April due to his off-field misbehavior, which included a deadly car crash on Jan. 15 that killed Georgia Bulldogs recruiter Chandler LeCroy and offensive lineman Devin Willock.

However, after several phone calls with the Eagles' front office staff and promises to change his behavior, the Eagles elected to trade up with the Chicago Bears to select Carter with the ninth overall pick.

Since then, Carter has been nothing short of a bright spot on this Eagles defense, ranking third on the team with four sacks and fourth with seven QB hits over eight games so far. His performance through the first half of the season has him up for 2023 Rookie Defensive Player of the Year.

This Target incident should be nothing to worry about as Carter stated, but unfortunately due to his daunting past, he's always going to have extra eyes on him.
