Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is trending in the right direction after a much-needed week of rest.
Prior to the Eagles Week 10 bye week, Hurts had been dealing with a bone bruise on his knee for five weeks, though he never missed a snap in practice or a game which ultimately kept him off the team's injury report.
Unlike the past few times, Hurts was "happier" to provide a brief, yet positive update on his knee following Thursday's practice.
He admitted to ditching the knee brace that he had been wearing on and off over the last several weeks.
"Yeah, I think time is a sign of progress,” Hurts said. “As I said, the bye week came at a great time. We all took advantage of that or tried to take advantage of that time off. Everything is trending forward.”
While Hurts or coach Nick Sirianni won't admit that his injury had limited their run game, the numbers don't lie. Despite being hesitant to run, Hurts was phenomenal in the pocket, completing 60 of 78 passes (76.9%) for 671 yards with seven touchdowns and a single interception (126.6 rating) for the Eagles over their last three games.
As Hurts noted, he wasn't the only injured player to take advantage of the extra rest. Starting right guard Cam Jurgens (foot) and veteran cornerback Bradley Roby (shoulder) returned to practice as full participants on Thursday.
A healthier dual-threat Jalen Hurts and overall Eagles team couldn't come at a better time as they prepare for the tougher stretch of their schedule, starting with a Monday night showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs.
