The Philadelphia Eagles absolutely got it right when the team hired head coach Nick Sirianni in the 2021 offseason. Sirianni and his elite group of assistants have been instrumental in the Eagles’ Super Bowl run this season.

That being said, one NFC East rival isn’t giving Sirianni the respect he is due.

Foot, Meet Mouth

New York Giants safety Julian Love stuck his foot in his mouth in his Thursday appearance on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football. Love, who is a part of the Giants team that was blown out of the playoffs by Philadelphia two weeks ago, clearly doesn’t understand the work that goes into coaching an NFL team.

“He’s a guy who really is doing a great job because he’s not getting in the way of his team,” Love stated. “He has an experienced roster from top to bottom – offense, defense.”

Love was then asked about his feelings regarding the viral clip of Sirianni’s celebratory sideline head bobbing in the win. To say love is still bitter might be an understatement.

“I don’t like it. I don’t like it at all. I mean, he’s in for a free ride right now. You guys can coach this team,” Love said before turning Eagles green with envy.

It Starts at the Top

Sure, Philadelphia has one of the most talented rosters in football, but that’s not a reason to discredit the job Sirianni has done. In fact, Sirianni and this Eagles team hasn’t once not responded when adversity punched them right in the nose. Whether that be after a tough loss or bad injury luck, the Eagles have always bounced right back up.

Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham, who is playing in his 13th season with the team, wasn’t letting Love off the hook so easily.

“You know what, people always got something to say when [they ’re] at home, when they’ve got some stuff to think about,” Graham replied on Thursday. “At the end of the day, it definitely carries no weight, because Coach proves himself each and every day. And if you’re not in here, you really wouldn’t know that. So it’s all lip service.”

A team is the reflection of its head coach. Sirianni’s work ethic and love for the grind is on full display every Sunday. For Love to speak out of turn like that might be more of an indictment on the discipline and respect, or lack thereof, inside the Giants’ locker room.
