The Philadelphia Eagles have some of the best assets in football. Look at their roster, and you will see nearly every position has a guy that could very well be a Pro Bowler this year, and some even All-Pro.
There isn't really a weakness on this team. They have the offensive pieces, and they have a defense that can shut down anyone.
Oh, and they have an elite quarterback who is the total package, on and off of the field. His game and his maturity have grown so much, and you can hear it when he talks.
The team just got better this year, as they made a huge trade before the deadline to acquire Robert Quinn from the Bears, who is a former All-Pro, and can help this team be disruptive on the defensive side of the ball.
On Wednesday Hurts was asked about the trade, and this just takes me back to talking about him and how great he has been so far. His answer will show you why he is the captain of the best team in football.
"I think it is another great player on this team," Hurts told the media on Thursday. "He [Quinn] has a history of being a great defensive end and pass rusher. I think he will help us out in a number of ways, you know, adds a lot of depth. I'm excited to meet him. I'm excited to meet him tomorrow when he comes."
It's the "I'm excited to meet him tomorrow when he comes," that gets me so fired up about the leadership Hurts displays on the regular. You want your quarterback to go out of his way to talk about the newcomer and say how excited he is to meet him.
And mind you, these guys really won't even be working together at the same time.
That's who Hurts is though. He has started showing qualities like this, even more, this year and it has made fans excited. He is the leader of this team and he knows that it isn't just about him.
He is showing everyone why he wears the captain C on game days, and this is just one of the many ways he has done so all year.
