Eagles: Sydney Brown is doing the one thing that will set him apart from the rest
Recent third-round draft selection, Sydney Brown, is setting himself up for success with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Sydney Brown, the safety out of Illinois that the Philadelphia Eagles drafted a little over a month ago, has already started to make a name for himself.
While taking second-team reps, Brown is doing the one thing that can set him apart from the rest: Giving 110 percent.
"He's a hard worker. He doesn't say too much. He's always smiling, but you just know that he wants it," Terrell Edmunds said. "He just goes out there and gives 110%. He's willing to learn. He just loves football. You can tell.
"He gives 110 percent every day. He's going to be a guy that's going to be in this league for a while."
The safety position is far less certain for the Eagles, compared to a position like cornerback.
Both Marcus Epps and C.J. Gardner-Johnson left in free agency. And the starting role is up for grabs depending on who can prove themself reliable enough in the secondary.
D.K. McDonald, the Eagles' secondary coach, is already impressed with what Brown can do on the football field. Specifically, what is impressive is Brown's mindset.
"He loves the game of football," McDonald said. "He does and he works hard at it. He prepares. He asks tons of questions. And that's on top of the skill that he has. His mindset. His growth mindset that he has of wanting to get better.
"He's never pleased with where he's at and those types of things draw you to guys. You know those guys that have that type of mindset, they're always going to work hard and try to improve. And that's what he does every day."
If Brown can continue to impress, it isn't too crazy to assume that he will play a prominent role on a defense that is trying to get the Eagles back to the Super Bowl.
