Philadelphia Eagles franchise record single season touchdowns Hall of Famer Randall Cunningham QB quarterback record NFl football stats news

Jalen Hurts’ MVP campaign continued in the Philadelphia Eagles’ 25-20 win over the Chicago Bears. It wasn’t Hurts’ best performance of the season, but he managed to do enough to put himself in Eagles lore.

Historically, the Eagles have been blessed with a handful of remarkable quarterbacks. However, when it comes to dual threat quarterbacks, Randall Cunningham stands alone.

Though it’s early in Hurts’ career, he’s giving one of Cunningham’s most impressive records a heck of a run. With his three rushing touchdowns in the win, Hurts pulled even with Cunningham’s franchise record of 35 total touchdowns in a single season, which he set in 1990.

With three games left, Hurts will likely cruise past the Hall of Famer. In Cunningham’s defense, the game has evolved, currently catering more to quarterback play than ever before.

Hurts deserves his flowers, though. Heading into the season, many questioned whether or not Hurts was the right guy for the future. Fast forward 14 games and here he is, tied with Cunningham for one of the most notable records in franchise history.

While the record is certainly nothing to sneeze at, Hurts doesn’t care much for individual achievements. The Eagles have their sights set on Super Bowl LVII, and he knows that the team must play better than what they showed on Sunday to bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Philly.
