Looking at the Eagles' roster, it's hard to find any glaring needs.

Sure, the team lost several starters in free agency, but almost all have immediate replacements on the roster. Jordan Davis and rookie Jalen Carter will make up for the loss of Javon Hargrave, while Nakobe Dean and Nicholas Morrow should be adequate replacements for TJ Edwards and Kyzir White.

However, the safety position is perhaps the one position that the team did not adequately address. Luckily, one national writer thinks Philadelphia is the perfect spot for a top trade candidate.

Matt Bowen of ESPN published a piece detailing the best fits for the best remaining free agents and trade candidates.

Included was Budda Baker, the star safety for the Arizona Cardinals. Baker requested a trade back in April after becoming unhappy with the direction of the franchise. Baker has been an All-Pro or Pro Bowler every season of his career save for one.

Bowen concluded that Philadelphia is the best fit for the embattled defender. The Eagles' safety positions have been in a state of flux this offseason. CJ Gardner-Johnson bolted in free agency, while Terrell Edmunds and Justin Evans were signed in free agency. The team also drafted Sydney Brown out of Illinois in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Former UDFA Reed Blankenship is currently penciled in as the starting free safety. While Blankenship has looked serviceable in limited snaps, he is far from the ball-hawking, hard-hitting safety that Baker is.

Regarding the Baker fit, Bowen said this:

The Eagles signed safety Terrell Edmunds in free agency and drafted rookie Sydney Brown in Round 3, but would general manager Howie Roseman take a swing to land a veteran? Baker, who requested a trade in April, is one of the league's most urgent safeties. He has incredible play speed and would fit as a top-down defender in split-field coverages under new coordinator Sean Desai.

Baker had at least 98 tackles over the past five seasons, and he creates plays on the ball in coverage, too.

Bowen points out the Eagles' moves but notes none of the current safeties are up to Baker's level. With Baker clearly unhappy in the desert and former Eagles' DC Jonathan Gannon manning the helm, perhaps a deal between the two teams would not be hard to facilitate.

The Eagles are already loaded with Pro Bowlers, so adding another could help the team get to the next level and ultimately raise the Lombardi Trophy once again.
