The Philadelphia Eagles managed to dodge some bad news this week.

Center Jason Kelce, one of the Eagles' key team leaders, underwent surgery this week on his elbow.

But don't freak out. It was just a cleanout procedure.

The expectation is that Kelce will be ready to go for week one when the Eagles kick off the 2022 season on the road against the Detroit Lions.

Kelce, a sixth-round pick out of Cincinnati in the 2011 NFL Draft, hasn't missed a game since 2014 when Chip Kelly was the head coach in Philadelphia.

And fortunately for the Eagles, it sounds like he should keep that streak alive this season, as long he doesn't run into any other major injury concerns.

It's better to deal with this now than later in the season. At 34 years old, it's not a big deal if Kelce misses a couple of weeks of training camp/preseason action.
