Despite the bye week, the Eagles are working on getting better. A scary proposition for the other teams in the NFL, who are tasked with stopping an offense that looks like it has an answer for everything.
Philadelphia is fourth in the NFL in points. The defense is sixth in the NFL in points allowed. The Eagles don't turn the ball over. And they also sit third in yards and fourth in yards allowed.
Scary. But if the season ended today, who would take home hardware? Let's hand out some awards and find out.
Most Valuable Player
The MVP award has a simple answer — quarterback Jalen Hurts. His raw passing numbers won't wow you. But he has completed 66.8 percent of his passes. He has also amassed 1,514 passing yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions.
Hurts boast a 98.4 passer rating, but he's also done tremendous damage on the ground: 293 yards and six touchdowns.
What sets Hurts apart this season is that he is playing efficient football. Though he is not pushing the ball downfield, he is reading defenses well and guiding an Eagles offense that can score on seemingly everyone.
The Eagles are winning more this season because of Hurts, not in spite of him. So many NFL teams can't say the same with their quarterback situation.
Top Offensive Player
Wide receiver A.J. Brown needs to claim the second offensive award because he has single-headedly changed the culture of the wide receiver room in Philadelphia.
Through six games, Brown has 33 catches for 503 yards and two touchdowns. He's on pace for 94-catch, 1,425-yard, and six touchdown season. If he did so, he would break all of his personal records, and probably land himself in the pro bowl.
Brown is one of the reasons Hurts has grown as a player. So, it is no surprise that he continues to play well on a week-to-week basis.
