Through three games in the 2022 season the Philadelphia Eagles have found an ally in the big play.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts has found ways to unlock the game-breaking abilities in talented pass catchers such as A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith, and Quez Watkins.

However, the production of tight end Dallas Goedert has been flying under the radar. Don’t get me wrong, the national media often highlights this dynamic Eagles offense, but, with so many playmakers in the unit, it’s Goedert that often gets overshadowed.

It’s a shame because Goedert is leading all tight ends in yards per catch (15.3) and yards after the catch (154). He is one of the game’s most explosive tight ends, and he has the numbers to back it up.

While defensive coordinators focus on containing Brown and Smith, Goedert has been able to take advantage of mismatches down the field.

Goedert is in his fifth season with the Eagles and he is yet to be named to a Pro Bowl. He is coming off of a 2021 campaign in which he saw career highs in targets (76), receiving yards (830), yards per catch (14.8), and yards per game (55.3).

Goedert is off to a hot start with 11 catches for 168 yards and one touchdown. Keep in mind that he is doing this in a run-first offense with the most talented group of receivers the Eagles have had in quite some time.

Goedert is one of the most underrated weapons in football. If he can continue on this trajectory the rest of the football world will have no choice but to take notice.
