Nick Sirianni couldn't have imagined a better season.
After beating the New York Giants, the Eagles clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye, giving star quarterback Jalen Hurts more time to reach 100 percent before one of the biggest games in Eagles history.
With all that the Eagles have accomplished this year, Sirianni offered some needed perspective on making the playoffs.
“This team has done some special things," he said. "Some of the records that this team has had, as far as A.J. [Brown] and DeVonta [Smith], to have two receivers to do that, the most points, the most wins — most importantly —, the most sacks, just a lot of great things to happen in the regular season. We understand that. So, that’s what we talked about a lot this week. We talked a lot about this week, about how we should be confident.”
Sirianni's message sounds similar to what Hurts said about making the playoffs — the job isn't finished.
“We just accomplished a great goal of ours, it’s something that we set out to do this year," Hurts said. "My whole thing moving forward is let’s prepare to play our best ball. It’s been a great ride this year, but our job is to finish it, so (we’re) gonna keep on going.”
It's great that the coach and quarterback are on the same page. A great regular season was just the beginning for Philadelphia. The team has its eyes set on winning the Super Bowl.
