The Philadelphia Eagles' wheeling and dealing those first-round picks for quality players is what earned the organization recognition in Bleacher Reports' latest "NFL Team's Best Moves."
So, it's time to take a look back at how the Eagles used the 2022 offseason to improve the team.
Philadelphia turned the 18th pick and the 101st pick into A.J. Brown in a blockbuster trade, nabbing quarterback Jalen Hurts an additional offensive weapon at wide receiver.
However, prior to that, Philadelphia shipped off pick 16, pick 18 and a sixth-rounder to New Orleans for No. 18, a 2023 first-rounder, a second-rounder in 2024 and third and seventh-rounders in 2022.
Philadelphia still possessed a first-round pick it used to trade up and take Jordan Davis at No. 13 and will have two first-round picks next season.
All of these moves provide a backdrop for Hurts' most important season to date. He will either prove himself as a passer with Brown and DeVonta Smith, or he will prove that he isn't the franchise quarterback for the Eagles moving forward.
Philadelphia has a second first-round pick to use in a trade if it needs to move on from Hurts after next season. Yet, if Hurts does prove himself, it can use that pick to aid in building Hurts' supporting cast.
It hasn't been a perfect summer in Philadelphia, but it's been a productive one. And as the regular season nears, what matters more than the offseason moves is the wins and the losses.
