Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys fans are waiting to know which team free agent linebacker Shaquille Leonard will be signing with.
While there hasn't been any indication of when exactly Leonard will make his decision, the latest update on the former Indianapolis Colts All-Pro linebacker will have Eagles fans smiling with triumph.
According to CBS Sports' insider Josina Anderson, the Eagles have "some optimism" that Leonard is signing with them.
Anderson also reports that the Cowboys "have not received any indication of Leonard's decision" as of Monday afternoon.
Leonard Met with the Cowboys & Eagles Last Week
Leonard met with both teams last week but opted to take the weekend before making his decision.
The Eagles are desperate for help at linebacker with Zach Cunningham nursing a hamstring injury and signing Leonard would be a huge boost for them ahead of their Week 14 matchup against Dallas.
It helps that Leonard is already familiar with head coach Nick Sirianni. The two crossed paths with each other during Sirianni's three-season stint (2018-2020) in Indianapolis as the Colts' offensive coordinator.
In five and a half seasons playing for the Colts, Leonard saw action in 70 games, logging 32 tackles for losses, 31 passes defensed, 12 interceptions, 17 forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries.
