A play during the first quarter of the matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers has to be quite concerning for Pittsburgh.

Following a fumble by RB Jaylen Warren, WR Diontae Johnson gave no effort to pick up the ball or make a tackle on Bengals CB DJ Turner.

What makes it worse is before the fumble, Johnson never even engaged in a block with Turner, who was then able to pick up a large return off the miscue.

This happens at an interesting time for Johnson, who was recently involved in a locker room altercation. His effort level on this play won’t be respected by his teammates, surely.

“Diontae Johnson's on-field frustration Sunday in Cleveland continued after the game in the Pittsburgh Steelers' locker room, where he got into a heated argument with teammate Minkah Fitzpatrick before Cameron Heyward and T.J. Watt broke up the altercation and delivered a message that the team needed to stick together, league sources told ESPN on Saturday.” – Adam Schefter, ESPN

Johnson later made a nice catch downfield for 39 yards but dropped a touchdown shortly before the play he showed a lack of effort.

Through the finish of the season, it will be interesting to see where Johnson’s effort level shows up and if this becomes a bigger issue.
