The Pittsburgh Steelers won 17-10 vs the Baltimore Ravens today.
A pivotal matchup for the Steelers and Ravens, first place in the division was on the line today.
Here's what happened and what it means:
Tight First Half
Pittsburgh ended the first half down only a touchdown after Baltimore as unable to score multiple times in the red area. Pittsburgh's defense was the only thing keeping the Steelers in the game, (per usual) as the offense either struggled to generate first downs, or stalled when they did, allowing Boswell to only get into range once, where he hammered a 48-yard beauty. At the least Boz and T.J. Watt came to play in the first 30:
Second Half Safety
After more tremendous work from the defense, the Steelers' special teams went to work, forcing the punt block and getting Pittsburgh on the board for the first time all day.
Pittsburgh would only net three points off the safety however, even despite some hard running from Jaylen Warren.
Gunner Let's It Go
Just when it seemed things were going Pittsburgh's away, the ball bounced off of returner Gunner Olszeski's arms and into the hands of the Ravens to give them first and goal. What happened next though was a thing of beauty:
Hello JPJ
The one thing that couldn't happen for the Ravens as a turnover, and the one thing Joey Porter made sure to do in his most important rep of the season:
Force the turnover. This time the Steelers would manage to make this one count:
Pickett to Pickens!
The Ravens decided to test their luck, running man coverage with no safety help over the top of Pickens.
Safe to say he and Pickett made them pay, with T.J. Watt closing the door:
The Best Pass Rush Duo In The League:
Highsmith and Watt continue to show why they are the best in the league in terms of a tandem off the edge, seemingly pulling plays out of thin air and forcing the huge strip sack recovery that would ultimately lead to a field goal that gave Pittsburgh a 17-10 lead with less than a minute left that and would lead to a victory and sole possession of the AFC North for Pittsburgh.
