Focusing on anything other than the here and now would be a disservice to the Pittsburgh Steelers organization, especially when your in the middle of a playoff race

But those outside the walls of the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex are doing just that when it comes to the future of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

And one of those people happens to be a good friend of Mike Tomlin's: NFL Insider Jay Glazer.

From Pittsburgh to Washington?

“I’m telling you, if Mike Tomlin was available, teams would be lining up, Glazer told Dave Helman of Fox Sports. Even if he’s not available yet, teams should be calling trying to trade for Mike Tomlin. Hey Washington, he’s from Virginia, perfect. I’m at least giving it a shot. I’m trying for it…you gotta swing away for a guy like that if he’s on the hot seat.

For one, Jay Glazer doesn't miss when it comes to reporting. He doesn't have the on-base percentage that insiders like Adam Schefter or Ian Rapoport do, but when he reports something, you better believe it's either already happened, or is going to happen.

But this wasn't a report. So Glazer isn't under any scrutiny if no such trade occurs. But it bears mentioning that Glazer has a personal relationship with Coach Tomlin, as the two have been seen together frequently, with both calling each other friends.

So who knows. Glazer is certainly not the type of guy to ruin a friendship to get a scoop, but maybe that wasn't an issue here. As I said in the opening, it's hard to believe Coach Tomlin is focused on anything other than the present, but you never know.
