It's hard to believe, but the Pittsburgh Steelers are nearly at the halfway mark of the season.
So what better time than now to review where the team stands.
Here is the Steelers MVP through the first half of the season:
Coach Tomlin
Look, I know what you're thinking. First off, yes, I know that MVP is the most valuable player and that the title belongs to T.J. Watt on this team.
But in this case, I took the liberty of defining the P in MVP as a personnel member-player, and the man who deserves that the most is Coach T:
Witchcraft, sorcery, magic, I don't know what Coach Tomlin prices with his guys, but whatever it is, it's working.
Now, he would disagree, using one of his famous Tomlinisms to say "The secret is…there is no secret."
And maybe that's true. But this team is 5-3 and it's not because of the QB, and its damn sure not because of the offensive coordinator.
And yes T.J. Watt is in the argument for maybe the best pure football player in the league regardless of position.
But there's not exactly a dream team around him, with a Steelers defense that has struggled mightily on the backend and currently ranks in the bottom half of the league at 18th overall in total defense.
So who knows why or how it works, but Coach T's message clearly gets across and is probably the single most valuable reason behind Pittsburgh's successes through Week 9.
