The phrase "a change of scenery" is probably overused when discussing what NFL players need after a rough patch in their career.

But for former Pittsburgh Steelers guard Kevin Dotson, a change of scenery and a move back to his natural position has paid dividends:

Kevin Dotson Signs Massive Deal

Pittsburgh drafted Dotson in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Louisiana, starting him in 30 of his 39 career games mostly at left guard.

But Pittsburgh felt they could upgrade at the position, signing Isaac Seumalo in free agency and trading Dotson to the Rams for a fourth-round pick that they will have in this years draft.

And who knows, maybe that pick on day three of the draft in April turns into a great player. Pittsburgh's track record in the draft is pretty well noted and Omar Khan hit home run after home run in his first draft last year.

But all it took was a simple switch back to right guard and Dotson had not only the best season of his career in LA, but was named PFF's highest-graded run blocker for his position and now has signed the 3rd highest salary in NFL history for his position.

And look, the Steelers were on the other side of the equation last year when they traded WR Chase Claypool (who is now on his third team) for a second round pick that netted them Joey Porter Jr.

So if I'm Pittsburgh, I just chalk it up to being a part of the game and look forward to hitting on my next fourth-rounder.
