Lucky for Canada and the Steelers organization, I am going to put these rumors to bed.
Wait, What?
If your unfamiliar with the terminology, a burner account is an anonymous social media account, usually run by a user who doesn't want the activities and opinions of that account associated with them. Burner accounts became popular with the rise of social media, and especially in sports when NBA star Kevin Durant admitted to having one.
In this case, the internet seemed to believe that Steelers OC Matt Canada made a burner account, going by the name DannyFootball77 and commenting on Steelers media pages in an effort to take some of the heat off of himself:
Now this was a good theory given the repeated defending of Matt Canada and the unlocking of the email address associated with the would be burner account. The only problem?
That is certainly not Matt Canada's work email, even if many on the internet are speculating it is.
How do I know? Because all members of NFL personnel departments and coaching staff's have email addresses that end in @teamnname.nfl.com.
So I hate to bring an umbrella to this brainstorm, particularly one as intriguing and weird as an offensive coordinator with a burner account would be, but it simply isn't true Steelers fans.
