There’s an old saying in NFL circles:

“Coaches Coach.”

Former Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury is proving he wants another shot in the league, with the Steelers opening at OC being a potential fit:

Kingsbury in Pittsburgh?

Per Peter King of NBC Sports, the Steelers and Kingsbury are slated to “talk” about a potential fit as the new OC in Pittsburgh.

Kingsbury spent last season at USC with potential first-overall pick Caleb Williams after being relieved from his duties in the offseason as the Cardinals HC.

It was an odd move considering Arizona had just inked Kingsbury, QB Kyler Murray and GM Steve Keim to contract extensions, but after a season-ending injury to Kyler Murray and underperforming as a team, the Cardinals cut bait.

Kingsbury is a controversial topic in the league, with some wondering how he ever got an NFL job, and others thinking he's a talented play-caller that ran into some bad injury luck.

The glass-half-full view on Kingsbury is that he has worked with some of the best QBs in the league or presumably via Patrick Mahomes, Kyler Murray and Caleb Williams.

The glass-half-empty version is that Kingsbury has a losing record both with Mahomes and Murray, and helped coordinate a USC offense that saw their star QB and Heisman Trophy winner regress, or at least statistically.

So we’ll see what comes of the report. To be clear, this isn’t even a request to interview, it’s merely a “talk” according to King.

How the talk goes…

We”ll know soon enough.
