The more time Omar Khan and the Pittsburgh Steelers front office gains in tenure, the more unpredictable they come.

Despite employing of the best kickers in the league, the team has decided to add another.

Per the team, Pittsburgh has signed kicker Matthew Wright:

The Price is Wright

The Steelers signed kicker Matthew Wright on Wednesday. Wright has had multiple stints with the Steelers, after originally signing with the team as an undrafted free agent following the 2019 NFL Draft. He was released prior to the start of the season and spent time in the XFL with the Tampa Bay Vipers. Wright returned to the Steelers in 2020, signing to the practice squad and then being a gameday elevation. He played in three games, connecting on four of four of his field goal attempts, with a long of 46 yards, and was seven for seven on extra point attempts. -Teresa Varley, Steelers

It’s largely assumed that Wright is being brought in as an extra leg for camp. With Boswell coming off of one of his best seasons as a pro, it’s safe to assume he will hold on to the starting job for the foreseeable future, with Wright coming in to take some of the pressure off of him throughout the preseason buildup.
